MY DESIGN PROCESS

My design process is shaped by my values, my professional inspirations as well as my experience as a designer. My design process is not always linear and tidy due to the nature of being user-centered. While different projects have different needs, my design process share the same 4 major phases:

1. DESIGN RESEARCH 💻

  • Goal

    • Define the problem.

  • Methods

    • User Research (interviews, surveys) to identify users' goals and pain points.

  • Deliverables

    • Personas, Competitive Analysis.

2. PROJECT SCOPE & DIRECTION 🔎

  • Goal

    • Design assumptions and methodologies are defined.

  • Methods

    • Create user scenarios to identify users' motivations and behavioural patterns.

    • Analyze pain points to implement features or define visual hierarchy in phase 3.

  • Deliverables

    • Affinity Diagram, Experience Map, Empathy Map, User Journey, Mental Model.

3. WIREFRAMING 🪜

  • Goal

    • Design the right level of fidelity for user testing.

  • Methods

    • Sketching in software such as Figma or Adobe XD.

    • Animating with After Effects or Framer.

  • Deliverables

    • Low-fidelity mockups and high-fidelity prototype.

4. TESTING & ITERATING 🔄

  • Goal

    • Design assumptions are validated/invalidated.

  • Methods

    • Regular testing on user to get feedback for future steps to take.

  • Deliverables

    • Continuous iteration of mockups/prototype until user and business needs are met.
